For artists on indie labels, such as Every Avenue, touring becomes a necessity. With music streaming not paying these artists the same way they pay artists on major labels because they do not receive the same amount of plays due to the massive differences in the size of their audiences, artists on indie labels are forced to continue to tour until they are able to grow their fan bases to a sustainable level. The lead singer of Every Avenue, Dave Strauchman, stated: "The industry is tough, especially for a band like us." This kind of outlook on the music industry for artists on indie labels shows that after 10 years of touring, which is about how long the band toured according to Strauchman, it's disheartening for artists to know that no matter how hard they work, if they're never able to grow a large enough fan base to achieve major label status, artists are stuck touring until they are no longer able to tour due to financial reasons and lack of support from their labels. While artists one indie label artists are able to break the mold and find commercial success and gain a solid fan base that will sustain them, artists like Panic! at the Disco and Fall Out Boy are prime example of this working, however the chance of this happening for musicians are few and far between, leaving music streaming hindering them even more so than before.
