The most unrealistic examples of touring come with artists like One Direction and Justin Timberlake, who have established such a strong fan base, that they are able to put on tours that cost millions of dollars and with the knowledge that they will be able to recuperate that loss and then some, turning a profit every single show. For artists who are not selling out these massive arenas, they see these acts and aspire to get to the same level of fame, however it's unrealistic because the majority of musicians will never achieve this. The musicians that do achieve it, however, are not the same ones that are effected by music streaming, unfortunately. One Direction fans, for example, will still purchase their CDs, it selling over 3.2 million copies in 2014. With such a large fan base, One Direction can afford to have people stream their music, because they know they are going to continue to sell out the biggest arenas across the world and have one of the biggest selling CDs whenever they decide to release one. Indie artists, however, are not as fortunate to have this type of success, which is why they are so heavily impacted by the changes in touring and music streaming.
